FAQ

Good to know

Everything about buying a guide, making it yours, and hitting the trail. Not here? Ask us directly.

What if the guide isn't for me?

Then you get your money back. Full refund within 14 days — no questions, no forms, just an email. We'd rather refund you than have you feel stuck with something that doesn't fit.

Is this AI-generated?

No. Every guide is walked, written and priced by the hikers themselves — every stage, every bus time, every camp spot. HYKA's tools help you adjust the plan, but they never invent places, prices or advice. If it's in the guide, someone stood there.

Can I adapt the plan to my own wishes?

That's the whole point. Swap a hotel, split a long stage into two days, pick a different resupply stop, use their gear list or build your own — the plan reflows around every choice you make. You start from their experience and end with your plan.

Do I need an account?

Yes — a free one, but only after you've paid. It takes 30 seconds (sign in with Google) and it's what keeps your plan saved, synced and yours to edit on any device.

Do I need to download an app?

No. HYKA runs in your browser on any phone, tablet or laptop — nothing to install, no app store. Open your plan wherever you are. (Tip: save it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.)

Does it work offline, on the trail?

The GPX file that comes with every guide works in any offline navigation app, so your route is always on your phone. And seasoned hikers know the drill anyway: screenshot your key pages before you lose signal. We're working on full offline support for your plan itself.

How up to date is the information?

Each guide shows when it was walked (e.g. "Walked May 2026") — you always know how fresh the knowledge is. When creators or hikers report changes, we update the guide.

How do I pay, and is it safe?

Payment runs through Stripe — the same processor used by Booking.com and Shopify. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, Klarna. We never see or store your card details.

Do I get the GPX file?

Yes. Every guide includes the full GPX download plus wild camp coordinates — yours to keep, also for use in your own navigation app.

Who makes these guides — and what do they get?

Real hikers with real trail miles, like Tony & Linde of NoodlesandBlisters. They earn from every sale of their guide — so you're paying the people who did the work, not a content farm.

Is a guide a one-time purchase?

Yes. You pay once and the guide is yours — including future updates to that guide. No subscription, no recurring charges.

Can I plan a trip together with someone?

Your plan lives in your account, and you can share a read-only view with your hiking partner so you're looking at the same route, nights and buses. Everyone who wants to edit their own version needs their own guide.

I've never done a multi-day hike. Is this for me?

That's exactly who we built this for. You start from a plan that already works — walked by someone who made the mistakes for you — and adjust it to your fitness and comfort level: shorter days, beds instead of tents, extra rest days. The hard research is already done.

When do new trails open?

First guides are live now; new trails open as their creators finish them, through 2026–2027. Founder pre-orders are fully refundable, any time.
